Guitars

Minerva Guitars are made by Isaac Stroupe in Rossville, GA just across the state line from Chattanooga, TN. 100% Hot Hide Glue construction and hand rubbed, home brewed Spirit Varnish finish are standard on every guitar. Jigs and power tools are kept to a minimum with all of the fine work done by hand with knives, spokeshaves, chisels, and planes. It takes one month or more of full time labor to produce one instrument.

I try my best to utilize tonewood responsibly. This means using primarily sustainably harvested, non-endangered North American woods. All of the Mahogany I use is either plantation grown or old growth with CITES papers.

All of the guitars I make are directly informed by vintage guitars in my personal collection. I have also had many vintage instruments pass through the shop over the years and all of those instruments inform the work as well. I have owned or restored instruments made by the Larson Bros, Kalamazoo, National, Kay, Stella, Galiano, Harmony, Gibson, Martin, Regal, Washburn etc.
